Drivers 'racing cars' in Eastbourne face prosecution

Three drivers seen racing their cars on a dual carriageway in East Sussex are to be prosecuted for dangerous driving.

A 21-year-old woman and two men, aged 19 and 23, were stopped by police on the A22 Golden Jubilee Way, Eastbourne, at 22:30 GMT on 19 November.

Officers said a Honda Civic, a Ford Focus and a BMW 116 were being driven at speeds between 100mph and 110mph.

The cars were seized and the drivers, all from Eastbourne, were told they would be summonsed before magistrates.

Sgt Bryan McCartney, of Sussex Police, said one of the drivers had only just retrieved his car from an impound yard after officers had seized it because it was being driven anti-socially.
