A 78-year-old woman arrested on suspicion of murdering a man whose body was found at an East Sussex beauty spot has been released without charge.

John Gilbert, 76, from The Waldrons in Croydon, south London, was found on a path in Seven Sisters Country Park in the early hours of 6 September.

The woman, who police said was in a relationship with Mr Gilbert, faces no further police action.

Sussex Police said the death has been passed to the East Sussex Coroner.

The cause of death is not yet known as police are awaiting the pathologist's final report.

An inquest will be held at a later date.

Police said it was believed the couple travelled to the Seven Sisters area by bus from Brighton where they had been staying.

Part of the park and the car park at Exceat was closed while police investigated Mr Gilbert's death.
