Maresfield biker crash driver 'may have noticed bump'

A woman was left in a critical condition when a driver "who may have noticed a bump" hit her after she came off her motorcycle, Sussex Police said.

The 30-year-old came off her motorbike in Maresfield High Street at about 07:00 BST and was airlifted to hospital with life threatening injuries.

"It would appear that it was not noticed by the driver who carried on," Insp Steve Grace said.

Any drivers who were in the area are asked to contact police.

Insp Steve Grace said, "We are looking at the possibility that the woman was struck by a passing vehicle after she had fallen from her machine, but if that was the case it would appear that it was not noticed by the driver who carried on.

"We'd... like to hear from any driver who was passing through Maresfield High Street around the time of the incident and may have noticed a bump, but dismissed it, not recognising what had happened."
