Pony shot with crossbow in West Sussex field

A pony has been shot with a crossbow in a field in West Sussex.

It happened at a farm in Kingstone Lane, East Preston, on Wednesday between 15:00 and 17:45 BST.

The pony, called Chaz, suffered a severe injury to its chest but was saved by emergency treatment from a vet at the scene, who removed the bolt.

Police said the pony was recovering but had suffered "deep shock". No-one has been arrested and anyone with information is urged to call officers.
