A cyclist who was killed when she was struck by a car in West Sussex, has been named by police.

Jennifer Hossack, 27, from Horsham, died on the A29 near Pulborough just after 22:00 BST on Friday.

Samuel Kirk, 26, from Billingshurst, was jailed for 20 weeks after pleading guilty to driving while banned and having no insurance.

He was sentenced by magistrates in Worthing but may face further charges in relation to the same incident.

Kirk was also banned from driving for three years at the hearing on Monday.

Sussex Police said inquiries were continuing in connection with allegations against Kirk of causing death by dangerous driving, failing to stop at a road collision, failing to report an accident, driving while being under the influence of drugs and causing a death while driving an unlicensed, uninsured car while being disqualified.

He has been bailed on these charges until 15 January, a police spokesman said.
