Three people arrested after Sussex cyclist dies in hit-and-run

Three people have been arrested after a cyclist was killed in a hit-and-run in Sussex.

The crash, near Pulborough on the A29, happened at 20:05 BST on Friday. The cyclist, a 27-year-old woman, from Kingsfold, died at the scene.

A silver Citro├źn Xsara was travelling southbound when it overtook a grey Audi Q7, crossing a double white line onto the opposite carriageway.

It collided with a bicycle and crashed before the driver fled the scene.

Two people, a 22-year-old woman from Crawley and a 17-year-old boy from Horsham, were arrested at the scene for death by dangerous driving, drinking and driving and theft of a vehicle.

A 26-year-old man, from Billingshurst, believed to be the driver, was arrested in Storrington for death by dangerous driving, drinking and driving and driving while disqualified.

Sussex Police have appealed for witnesses.
