Motorist held over Haywards Heath wrong one-way drive

A 28-year-man has been arrested after a motorist failed to stop for police and then drove the wrong way around a town's one-way system.

Sussex Police pursued the Vauxhall Astra, which was travelling at speed, through Cuckfield and around Haywards Heath on Monday at about 22:20 BST.

It was then driven along a footpath to Ashenground Woods where it stopped.

A man from Crawley was arrested on suspicion of aggravated vehicle taking and careless or dangerous driving.

He was also held on suspicion of a number of other offences, including criminal damage and driving while disqualified.
