South Downs National Park eyed for exploratory drilling

5 September 2013 Last updated at 20:52 BST

A new site for exploratory drilling for oil and gas in the south east of England is to be proposed within the South Downs National Park.

Energy firm Celtique has said it will submit an application to the park authority within a matter of weeks.

The company wants to drill at Fernhurst in West Sussex.

Martyn Knights, of Frack Free Fernhurst, said the site of the proposed drilling would be fully lit and operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
