Man arrested after death at Brighton flat

A 43-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman was found dead in a Brighton flat.

Sussex Police said the body of a 31-year-old woman was found lying in the lounge of a property at Barclay House in Wellington Road on Sunday.

A post-mortem examination has proved inconclusive and more tests are to be carried out to find out how she died.

The force said the arrested man was known to the woman and he had been released on bail until 29 November.

'Suspicious death'

The woman has not yet been identified.

Det Insp Wendy Burton from Surrey and Sussex Major Crime Team said: "The woman's death is currently being treated as suspicious.

"Forensic examinations have been carried out at the address.

"Officers are continuing with local enquiries and I would appeal to any local residents, who have information that could help us with the investigation, no matter how relevant they think it is, to please get in touch."
