Balcombe protesters block oil drilling lorry

25 July 2013 Last updated at 16:08 BST

Protesters have pledged to mount a round-the-clock campaign of resistance against an energy company which plans to start exploratory oil drilling in an West Sussex village.

Campaigners obstructed the entrance to the site in Balcombe, near Lewes, where Cuadrilla is expected to start test drilling within days.

Cuadrilla has said its forthcoming activity at Balcombe is a temporary operation that will not include hydraulic fracturing, or "fracking".
