Girl in coma after taking 'ecstasy-type drug'

A teenage girl has been put in an induced coma after she took a pill described as similar to ecstasy.

Friends of the 17-year-old from Bognor Regis in West Sussex called an ambulance after she had a "violent reaction" to the drug and her lips turned blue.

She was taken to St Richard's Hospital in a critical condition, police said.

A 19-year-old man from Bognor arrested on suspicion of supplying the drug has been bailed until 6 September.

Det Sgt Russ Burgess, of Sussex Police, said: "The name of the drug isn't clear but I want to warn people to be cautious of what they take."
