Teacher Jeremy Forrest has been jailed for five and a half years for abducting and having sex with a 15-year-old pupil he ran off with to France.
The 30-year-old, from Petts Wood in south-east London, was convicted on Thursday of child abduction. He pleaded guilty to five charges of sexual activity with a child shortly before he was sentenced.
Lewes Crown Court heard Forrest groomed the pupil at the Eastbourne school where he taught.
Jailing him, Judge Michael Lawson QC told him he had "broken the cardinal rule of teaching".
