Retired Sussex teacher Christopher Robin Jarvis on sex abuse charges

A retired teacher has been charged with sex offences against seven boys at a school in Sussex in the 1960s and 70s.

Christopher Robin Jarvis, 69, of Duke's Drive, Eastbourne, has been charged with 13 offences against boys at St Peter's Preparatory School, in Seaford.

The offences, which include indecent assault and inciting boys to commit gross indecency, are alleged to have taken place between 1966 and 1977.

St Peter's, which was an independent school for boys, closed in 1982.

Mr Jarvis was charged after allegations were originally made against him in October 2012.

Sussex Police said there were no allegations of abuse since 1977 and that children are currently not considered at risk.

He is due to appear before magistrates in Brighton on 27 June.

The Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, was a pupil at the school from September 1964 until 1968.
