Brighton student found with unexplained head injuries

A Brighton University student has been found with unexplained head injuries after a night out in the city.

An 18-year-old man was found just after 01:00 BST on Sunday by a member of the public on a pedestrian ramp leading from the lower promenade to Kings Road.

He was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital and then transferred to the Hurstwood Park Neurological Centre in Haywards Heath.

He had been at the Shooshh nightclub earlier that evening, police said.

Det Con Katy Hartley of Sussex Police said: "How he came by his injury is not yet clear.

"We are particularly keen to speak to a woman who said she was an off-duty nurse and gave initial assistance at the scene before the man was taken to hospital."

The teenager's injuries are not thought to be life-threatening, police said.
