Littlehampton attack: Part of man's ear found

Part of an ear was found after a man was attacked by two intruders in his home in Littlehampton.

The 38-year-old also suffered head and arm injuries and a broken hand when he was assaulted in his flat in Arundel Road at about 00:25 GMT on Saturday.

The top part of his ear was later found on the floor, but doctors at Worthing Hospital were unable to re-attach it when he was taken there later.

Two men, aged 42 and 31 were detained on Saturday, Sussex Police said.

They were arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and released on bail until 4 May.

The injured man at first declined to go to hospital, but officers convinced him later on Saturday to go for treatment, police said.

A spokesman added it was unclear how the injury to the man's ear had happened.
