Eastbourne man admits Sussex Police stand-off charges

A 38-year-old man has admitted holding a man against his will and making threats to kill during a five-hour stand-off with Sussex Police.

Robert Anthony O'Connor, of Cavendish Avenue, Eastbourne, pleaded guilty to false imprisonment, making a threat to kill and assault at Lewes Crown Court.

Police cordoned off a flat in Hazelwood Avenue, Eastbourne during an incident in December involving a 52-year-old.

O'Connor was arrested after five hours of negotiations with police.

He was remanded in custody on Friday to appear at Lewes Crown Court for sentencing on 3 April.
