Man dies in Landford house fire

An elderly man has died in a house fire in Landford in Wiltshire.

Crews were called to a property in Lyndhurst Road at about 15:30 GMT on Thursday, to find a bedroom alight.

Wiltshire Fire and Rescue said crews wearing breathing apparatus found the man in the bedroom, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

An elderly woman was treated by paramedics for the effects of breathing in smoke, but did not need hospital treatment.

The cause of the fire is being investigated, but Wiltshire Police said it was not being treated as suspicious.
