A man who robbed a betting shop in West Sussex with what appeared to be a handgun is being sought by police.

Staff at William Hill were threatened by the offender when he targeted the premises in The Boulevard, Crawley, at 19:15 GMT on Monday. No-one was hurt.

The man, who was described as black, in his late 30s, of medium build and with a moustache, fled with £225 in cash.

Officers urged a customer who was playing a fruit machine near the front door to come forward.

Det Con Celia MacDonald said the man was not involved in the robbery but left before police arrived without giving his details.

After the robbery he went to the counter to collect his winnings before leaving.
