The death of an 88-year-old woman in Hove is no longer being treated as suspicious, Sussex Police has said.

The body of Evelyn Stevens was found outside Baltimore Court, in The Drive, shortly before 07:00 GMT on 3 January.

A 49-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of murder has been released from bail.

Det Ch Insp Ian Pollard said the details of what had happened to Mrs Stevens was unclear and investigations would continue.

He said: "Following a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of Mrs Stevens, and after receiving the results of forensic examinations, I am satisfied there is no evidence to conclude her death was suspicious."

A post-mortem examination showed the pensioner had suffered injuries consistent with a fall from height.
