Saddlescombe pensioner dies in A23 road crash

A 95-year-old man has died after his car left the road in West Sussex.

The man, who lived in Saddlescombe, was driving his car on the northbound A23 when it left the road at Pyecombe.

His car left the road as he turned into the A281 West Road at about 16:10 GMT on Wednesday and hit a large street sign, Sussex Police said.

He was taken to the Royal Sussex Hospital with serious injuries where he died. Police have asked any witnesses to contact them.
