Man found dead after Fernhurst house fire

A man has been found dead following a fire at a house in West Sussex.

The victim is believed to be the 59-year-old occupant of the semi-detached house in Old Glebe, Fernhurst, who lived alone.

Emergency services were called by neighbours just after 07:40 GMT. The man was certified dead at the scene.

Sussex Police said officers were working with fire investigators to establish the cause of the blaze, which is being treated as unexplained.

The man was found inside the building by the West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service.

The house was badly damaged and one neighbouring house was affected by smoke.
