Man bailed after pedestrian crash in Brighton

A 67-year-old man who was arrested after a pedestrian suffered serious injuries when a car mounted a pavement has been bailed.

The incident happened in Montpelier Place, Brighton, just after 22:00 GMT on Christmas Day.

Police said a Mercedes Vito taxi and a Citreon C4 collided and the taxi mounted the pavement.

The pedestrian, a 26-year-old woman, was taken to hospital but has now been discharged.

Police have appealed for witnesses.
