Brighton pedestrian seriously injured

A 26-year-old pedestrian suffered serious injuries when a car mounted the pavement during a collision.

The incident involving two vehicles happened in Montpelier Place, Brighton, just after 22:00 GMT on Christmas Day.

Fire crews from East Sussex had to lift one of the vehicles off the injured woman after she was dragged beneath it.

Sussex Police said a 67-year-old man from Heathfield was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing serious injury by driving dangerously.
