Pedestrians seriously hurt in Eastbourne hit-and-run

Two elderly pedestrians are seriously ill in hospital after being injured in a hit-and-run in Eastbourne.

A man in his 80s was flown to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton and a woman, also in her 80s, was taken to hospital in Eastbourne.

Police said the man's injuries were life-threatening.

Police said a motorcycle was abandoned at the scene, in Ashford Road, at about 12:45 GMT, and the rider ran off. A man was later arrested.
