Report on Diocese of Chichester child abuse failures
The Archbishop of Canterbury has condemned the Diocese of Chichester for its "appalling" record in handling allegations of sexual abuse by priests.
Three local priests have been charged this year with child sex offences.
Lambeth Palace said it would now oversee clergy appointments and child protection matters in Sussex.
A report describes a "profoundly negative culture" within the diocese which has led to two decades of child protection failures.
