Murder probe launched after Brighton man found dead

A murder investigation has been launched after a 62-year-old man was found dead in Brighton.

The body of a man, who police believe is called Michael Polding, was discovered on Monday in a property in St George's Road.

Officers were called after being told he had not been seen for a couple months.

A post-mortem examination on Saturday revealed the had suffered a number of injuries.

Det Insp Jon Fanner, of Surrey and Sussex major crime team, said: "Following the post mortem it now appears that Mr Polding suffered a number of injuries which have caused us concern and we have launched this homicide investigation.

"We are currently working to establish the circumstances surrounding his death, including when he may have died and how he sustained the injuries.

"We would like to hear from anyone who may have spoken to Mr Polding since 14 May."
