London 2012: Olympians train at Crawley's K2 Leisure Centre

Olympic athletes from the Bahamas, Grenada and Paraguay are training at the K2 Leisure Centre in Crawley.

Crawley Borough Council said athletes from the three nations would train in the West Sussex town from Tuesday.

The Bahamas team are preparing for both athletics 4x100m relays and the other two teams are getting ready for London 2012 swimming events.

On Monday, the council said the final details of how many athletes were involved was still to be confirmed.

Torch Relay

The athletes will continue training at K2 Leisure Centre until 24 July, when they head to the London 2012 Olympic stadium in east London.

The council said children, adults and families would be able to meet the Olympians at K2 on 17 July, hours before the Olympic Torch Relay arrives in the town, subject to the athletes' schedules.

Councillor Lenny Walker, cabinet member for leisure and culture, said: "We are delighted to host the Bahamas, Grenada and Paraguay Olympic teams for their pre-Games training camps."

He said the town wished them the best of luck.

Chris Lovelock, centre manager at K2 Crawley, said: "We are delighted to be hosting these elite athletes.

"K2 Crawley is a fantastic leisure centre so it's great to be recognised by international Olympic committees."
