Security van robber drops cash in Crawley raid

An armed robber forced a cash delivery man to hand over a substantial amount of money but dropped it and made off empty-handed.

Sussex Police said the suspect targeted a security van delivering money to a cash machine at Tesco in Three Bridges, Crawley, on Friday afternoon.

The man threatened the van driver with what was thought to be a hand gun.

The suspect, who had a motocross-style trial bike, headed towards St Mary's Drive, when he got away, police added.

Det Insp Sarah Barrett said police had a large number of witnesses but appealed for anyone with information to contact the force.

She said no-one was injured in the incident just before 12:15 BST.
