Pregnant woman stabbed in Crawley: Man charged with attempted murder

A 25-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder after a pregnant woman was stabbed in West Sussex.

Sussex police were called to Northgate Parade, in Northgate, Crawley, just after midnight on Saturday.

The woman, 23, is in a stable condition in hospital and her pregnancy was unaffected by the attack, police said.

The man, from the Parade, Northgate, was arrested at 04:00 BST on Saturday and is due to appear at Haywards Heath Magistrates' Court later.

The pregnant woman remains in intensive care after suffering four stab wounds to her neck and upper body.

Det Insp Jim McKnight said: "This is an incident arising from a specific set of circumstances and police do not believe that any other individual is at risk."
