Man arrested over fatal stabbing of man at Brighton flat

Norfolk Square scene The man was pronounced dead after paramedics attended the scene in Norfolk Square

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a 40-year-old man died from stab wounds at a flat in Brighton.

Emergency services were called to the flat in Norfolk Square at 19:40 BST on Sunday to reports that a man who lived there alone had been stabbed.

He received treatment from paramedics at the scene but was pronounced dead shortly after 21:00 BST.

A 21-year-old local man was arrested at a Brighton address on Monday morning and is being held in custody.

Sussex Police said a knife was recovered in the flat and was being examined to see if it was connected to the incident.

A post-mortem examination is expected to take place later.

Det Ch Insp Nick Sloan, of the Surrey and Sussex Major Crime team, said: "We do not believe that this was a random attack and we are keen to hear from anyone who was in the Norfolk Square area early yesterday evening and who saw any suspicious activity."
