Kayak fall man Nick Crosswell died from drowning

A 29-year-old man who died after falling from a kayak on a river in West Sussex has been named by police.

Nick Crosswell, of June Lane, Midhurst, was on the River Rother near Petworth with a friend when he fell in on Saturday at about 18:45 BST.

Sussex Police said a post-mortem examination found the cause of death was drowning.

Officers are not treating the death as suspicious. An inquest has been formally opened and adjourned.
