Approval for free car parking pilot in Bognor Regis

A one-year trial offering free parking for two hours in a West Sussex town has been approved.

From December, residents and visitors to Bognor Regis will be able to park for free in the Fitzleet multi-storey and Lyon Street car parks.

The scheme was backed by Arun District Council and Bognor Regis Town Council.

West Sussex County Council has been asked by both councils to improve signs in the town showing drivers where they can park for free.

Councillor Gillian Brown, leader of Arun District Council, said: "We are committed to doing all we can to help our town centres and our local businesses through these difficult times.

"I am sure this move will be welcomed by businesses, visitors and shoppers who will all benefit from free parking in the town centre."
