Eastbourne seafront cycle route approved

A shared cyclist and pedestrian path along part of Eastbourne seafront has been given the go-ahead.

East Sussex County Council approved plans for the one mile route from Dukes Drive to King Edwards Parade.

The council said consultation with residents who raised safety concerns would continue.

Scarlett McNally, of the cycling campaign group Bespoke, said she expected cyclists and pedestrians to respect each other.

She said: "[Eastbourne] is a great place to cycle, but at the moment there are no places to start for people who are a bit scared."
