Talks over future of Rye Harbour Nature Reserve

A local authority is considering handing over control of a popular beauty spot to a conservation trust.

East Sussex County Council said it was in talks about transferring the management of Rye Harbour Nature Reserve to the Sussex Wildlife Trust.

The council said the proposed changes would not affect the role of the Friends of Rye Harbour.

The nature reserve has more than 150 rare or endangered species and attracts more than 200,000 visitors a year.
