Probe into Redhill East Surrey Hospital car park death

An elderly man who died after he was found collapsed in a hospital car park in Redhill could have been hit by a vehicle, Surrey Police have said.

The man in his 70s was found collapsed in the car park area of East Surrey Hospital just before 17:00 BST on Monday.

Officers said he was taken to A&E but was later pronounced dead.

Police are treating the death as unexplained but are investigating the circumstances.

A spokeswoman for Surrey Police said: "An investigation is under way to establish the full circumstances surrounding the death and to ascertain whether the man was struck by a vehicle prior to his death."

The man who died has not yet been named but his family has been informed, she added.

A spokeswoman for East Surrey Hospital said the man had undergone a routine procedure on Monday afternoon and was well when discharged.
