Three boys arrested after Horley flats fire

Three teenagers have been arrested on suspicion of arson after a fire in a block of flats in Surrey.

The fire, at the four-storey Elbourne House in Lumley Road, Horley, is thought to have started when a carpet roll was set alight in a stairwell.

Surrey Fire and Rescue Service were called to the flats about 18:00 GMT on Thursday. No-one was hurt.

A 14-year-old boy from Horley and two 15-year-old boys from Smallfield remain in police custody.

Insp Dan Gutierrez thanked local shops which provided shelter and refreshments to people evacuated from the building.
