Boy, 16, arrested after girl, 17, found dead in Surrey

The girl's family have been told of her death, a Surrey Police spokesman said

A 16-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a 17-year-old girl was found dead in Surrey.

Officers found the body after being called to an address in Amy Road in Oxted just before 17:20 GMT on Friday.

Officers from the Surrey and Sussex Major Crime Team said they thought the pair knew each other.

The girl's family have been told of her death, a Surrey Police spokesman said. The boy was being kept in police custody.

Neighbours said a taped-off road in the town was "very unusual".

Mavis Plumridge, who lives on Amy Road, said: "When I came home last night I saw police there but you don't take a lot of notice.

"It was only just now that… it gave me quite a funny turn. That doesn't happen in Oxted."
