Teenager guilty of killing Jonathan Beaumont in Addlestone park

A teenager has been found guilty of killing 17-year-old Jonathan Beaumont in a park in Surrey.

Ross Edwards, 17, from Chertsey, was found guilty of manslaughter by a jury at Guildford Crown Court.

The court heard Mr Beaumont died from a head injury after being assaulted in a park off Burleigh Road, Addlestone.

Surrey Police appealed for calm following the verdict with officers stepping up patrols. Edwards will be sentenced on 14 February.

Det Ch Insp Claire Pridgeon, who led the investigation, said: "This was a tragic incident where a young man lost his life and the devastating impact of the events which unfolded in Addlestone last year continue to be felt.

"I welcome today's verdict following what has been a difficult and challenging investigation."
