Restaurants, shops, a cinema and flats could be built on the site of a car park in a Surrey town.

The plans for Marketfield Way in Redhill include a six-screen cinema, restaurants and 90 apartments, Reigate and Banstead Borough Council said.

The council will sell the site to CoPlan Estates, subject to them getting planning permission and occupiers for the development.

A planning application is expected to be submitted in the autumn.

Councillor Natalie Bramwell said: "CoPlan has come up with a fantastic scheme that not only meets but exceeds our requirements.

"This redevelopment is crucial for the overall regeneration of Redhill."

The development will replace the council's Marketfield Way car park and 12 shops with offices above in the High Street.

The site is opposite the main entrance to the Belfry Shopping Centre.
