An emergency homeless shelter housing single people during the winter has been approved by a Surrey council.

The shelter, in Hansler Grove, East Molesey, will open in mid-January after being granted planning permission by Elmbridge Borough Council.

It will house up to five people, but during exceptionally bad weather, eight will be allowed to stay.

Transform Housing, the charity behind the shelter, said it would cater for people from the Elmbridge area.
