Cyclist seriously injured in Virginia Water hit-and-run

A cyclist is being treated for serious injuries after he was struck by a vehicle in Surrey which failed to stop.

The 54-year-old man suffered shoulder and chest injuries when he was hit by a "Land Rover type" vehicle on the A329 Blacknest Road in Virginia Water.

He is in a serious but stable condition in St Peter's Hospital, Chertsey, where he was taken following the collision at about 22:00 GMT on Friday, police said.

Police have appealed for anyone with information to come forward.
