No verdict jury discharged in Surrey rape trial

The jury has been discharged in the trial of a man accused of raping a woman in a Surrey park, after failing to reach a verdict.

Colin Ford, 58, of Fernhurst Road, Croydon, had pleaded not guilty at Guildford Crown Court.

The woman, who is in her 20s, was attacked at Whyteleafe Recreation Ground, in Hillbury Road, Whyteleafe, on 18 May.

A hearing on 16 December will determine whether Mr Ford will face a retrial.
