People are able to report those they suspect of drinking and driving in Surrey by text message.

The project, which will run until New Year's Day, will enable people to inform the police in confidence.

Surrey Police wants people to text POLICE to 66644 followed by the details of the driver, or to call 999.

Insp Richard Mallett said drink or drug drivers could be banned from driving, fined up to £5,000 or face a six-month prison sentence.
