Attempted murder arrests after boy stabbed in Ewell

Five men have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a 15-year-old boy was stabbed in Surrey.

The attack happened during a brawl between a large group of people in Ewell on Monday night.

Two men, both aged 25, who were arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm on Tuesday have been rearrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

A further three men were also arrested. All five were being held in custody.

The teenager suffered stab wounds in the fight and was taken to hospital with serious chest injuries.

Police have said the altercation in the Watersedge area happened at about 19:30 GMT and was between groups of people who are believed to be known to each other.

Det Sgt Judith Burton said: "Although five people have been arrested in connection with this incident, we continue to appeal for anyone who has any information which may assist with the investigation to share this with us as a matter of urgency."

Police said the five arrested men were in their teens and 20s.
