Teenager dies after Addlestone park assault

A murder investigation has been launched after a 17-year-old boy died following an assault in Surrey.

The teenager was attacked in a park near Burleigh Road in Addlestone at just after 16:00 BST on Monday.

The boy from Chertsey suffered serious head injuries and was taken to St George's hospital in London, where he died on Tuesday afternoon.

Another 17-year-old boy from Chertsey has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody.

The victim has not been formally identified and a post-mortem examination is due to be held on Wednesday.
