Arrested man collapses at Guildford police station

An arrested man is in a critical condition in hospital after he collapsed at a Surrey police station.

The 34-year-old man collapsed at Guildford police station at about 22:35 BST on Monday after being arrested on suspicion of drugs offences.

He was arrested after Surrey Police searched an address in Boxgrove Park.

A man, aged 40, who was also arrested, was taken to hospital after collapsing at the scene. Both men are believed to have taken an unknown substance.

A white powder was found at the scene and is currently being analysed, police said.

The matter has been referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC).

The 40-year-old man was discharged from hospital and is in custody at Staines police station.
