Murder inquiry into Guildford pensioner fire death

A murder inquiry has been launched into the death of an elderly man injured in a house fire at the weekend.

Police were called to the house in the Slyfield Green area of Guildford, Surrey, at lunchtime on Saturday.

The 92-year-old, who has not been named, was rescued from the fire but died in hospital on Thursday.

Three men, aged 19, 20 and 25, and a 37-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life and have been bailed.

The 19 and 20-year-old were arrested in the area and are on bail until 9 August.

The other two were arrested later on Saturday and have been bailed until 18 July.

Police said a post-mortem examination of the victim would be carried out later.
