Arrest over Ashtead attempted child abduction

A man in his 60s has been arrested over the attempted abduction of a child in Ashtead, Surrey.

The 11-year-old boy was on Berry Meade on Tuesday afternoon when the man put his hand on his shoulder before telling him to go with him.

The boy was able to get away and raise the alarm, Surrey Police said.

A short time later a man in his late 60s from Leatherhead was arrested for attempted child abduction. He remains in police custody.
