Teenager threatened with knife in Dorking

An investigation is under way after a man threatened a 16-year-old girl with a knife in the street in Surrey.

Two teenage girls were walking in London Road, Dorking, on Friday when one bumped into a man who was coming from the opposite direction.

The girl apologised and the man pulled out a knife and asked her to repeat what she had said.

He then turned around and walked off "at speed" and the two girls ran away, Surrey Police said.

Police described the episode as a "frightening experience" for the girls.

The man is described as of Indian appearance, aged about 40, and 5ft 4in to 5ft 8in tall.

Officers are appealing for witnesses.
