Bottles thrown at police at Copthorne party

Bottles were thrown at police who were called to break up a "large-scale disturbance" at a party in Surrey.

About 150 people - more than anticipated - turned up at the property in Copthorne on Saturday night, police said.

Officers and police dogs dispersed the crowd but had missiles thrown at them, causing damage to police cars. Nobody was seriously injured.

The event was advertised online. Officers are appealing for information.

Insp Paul Grove, from Surrey Police, said the incident demonstrated "the dangers which police officers face on a daily basis".

"A full investigation will now follow to find those responsible for the disturbance in a bid to bring them to justice," he said.

Police said two teenagers had been arrested. The pair, both aged 17, were bailed until 9 July.
